America Ferrera was born on April 18, 1984 in Los Angeles, California. She performed in school plays and community theatre in Los Angeles throughout her youth.
She has starred in several films since her acting debut in the 2002 television-film Gotta Kick It Up!, including Real Women Have Curves, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, The Dry Land, End of Watch and Our Family Wedding.
She is best known for her role as Betty Suarez in the television series Ugly Betty. Her performance earned her a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress.
