Morgan Taylor, a captain from the United States Air Force Academy, was killed in an accident while on official duty.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reports the death of an Air Force captain from Colorado Springs in a fatal head-on collision on Interstate 70.
Some information concerning the crash that occurred in Geary County at around 3 a.m. on November 12 was released by the relevant law enforcement agency. In the preliminary stages of their investigation, the Kansas Highway Patrol has concluded that John Wagnaar III was driving west in the eastbound passing lane. Captain Morgan Taylor, 31, from Colorado Springs, was at the wheel of the second car, which was headed east in the passing lane.
For example, the Kansas State Patrol recorded a “head-on collision” between two automobiles in their digital crash log.
Taylor and Wagnaar have recently both passed away. New Jersey native and Air Force Academy cadet Captain Taylor was away on official duty.
To verify her military status, KKTV 11 News contacted the Air Force Academy. The Academy has released the following:
Taylor was the deputy chief of military justice at the United States Air Force Academy’s Judge Advocate office. She served as the legal advisor for the 10th Air Base Wing, the Preparatory School, the Commandant of Cadets, the Director of Athletics, and the entire Headquarters staff. Taylor was on his way to Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama for the start of Squadron Officer School on November 14 when the tragedy occurred.
“Captain Taylor was a bright light in our USAFA family and a highly respected officer,” said Lt. Gen. Richard M. Clark, superintendent of the United States Air Force Academy. I’ve shared with her loved ones our greatest condolences and told them how special Morgan was to everyone here. All of us at the United States Air Force Academy are thinking of and praying for our Judge Advocate friends and teammates.
In 2019, Taylor graduated with a law degree from the University of Maine, and in 2020, she will be commissioned as an officer in the United States Air Force after completing Officer Training School at Maxwell Air Force Base. Prior to her deployment in July 2022, she worked as an assistant staff judge advocate at Joint-Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska from August 2020 to July 2022.
The Special Victims Capabilities Course, the Accident Investigations Course, and the Arctic Regional Security Orientation Course were just a few of the specialized training programs that Taylor had been chosen for and successfully completed. While finishing her Bachelor of Arts at Rutgers University in 2018, she was selected for a legal extern post at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey.
