The last of the Romans, Gaius Cassius Longinus was the main conspirator in the plot to assassinate Julius Caesar. When Brutus was made the praetor urbanus by Caesar, Cassius was angered and thus plotted revenge. Following the murder, he left for Syria, but committed suicide after losing to Mark Antony.
