Borscht Belt legend Freddie Roman, 85, has passed away. His comedy was a mainstay at the Friars Club roasts and other major nightclubs. His daughter reported he died of a heart attack this morning in Boynton Beach, Florida.
Roman was a veteran comedian who performed in countless Las Vegas and other major city rooms.
Also, he regularly participated in roasts on Comedy Central, where he poked fun at stars like Jerry Stiller, Hugh Hefner, Drew Carey, Rob Reiner, and Chevy Chase.

At the age of 15, Roman, a native New Yorker whose uncle and grandpa owned the Crystal Spring Hotel in the Catskills, was given the opportunity to emcee there.
After a while, he decided to leave the entertainment industry and join his father’s shoe company instead. Not long after, Roman went back to doing stand-up.
