Marlynn Myers’s role as John Wayne Gacy’s first wife is well-known. They were collaborators at the Springfield, Illinois-based Nunn-Shrub Shoe Organization.
John first fell in love with Myers when he was just 22 years old.
They were coworkers at John’s Nunn-Bush Shoe Company in Springfield, Illinois, where he was manager. Nine months after they first met, John agreed to Myers’ proposal to marry Gacy, and the young couple moved to Waterloo, Iowa.
According to the New Yorker, John was offered a management position at one of the three Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants owned by his father-in-law at the time.

Gacy and Marlynn Myers first collaborated at Roberts Brothers, a men’s clothing company in Springfield, Illinois, in 1964. They got married and moved into the house Myers’ parents had been living in Waterloo, Iowa, nine months after they got engaged. When Marlynn learned of Gacy’s evil deeds, she agreed to a divorce on the grounds of “cruel and inhuman treatment.”
On May 8, 2022, Marlynn Myers passed away in her house in Rogersville.
