Keira Knightley was born in Middlesex, England, UK on March 26, 1985. She is the daughter of actor Will Knightley and playwright Sharman Macdonald.

At the age of 9, she got her first role in Moira Armstrong’s A Village Affair. She had her first high-profile performance in 1999, as Sabe in Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace.

She achieved international fame in 2003 as a result of portraying Elizabeth Swann in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series. She earned nominations for the Academy and Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for her role in Pride and Prejudice.
