Larry Sprinkle, the weatherman for WCNC in Charlotte, was riding in a car that caught fire during the Belmont Christmas Parade in North Carolina.

Luckily, the Belmont Police Department and some nearby fire departments were on the scene to help out, and no one was seriously hurt.

WCNC Belmont Police have confirmed that Larry Sprinkle, a weather forecaster for the Charlotte area, was not injured when his car caught fire during the annual Belmont Christmas Parade.

Sprinkle claimed he smelled exhaust coming from the car right up until it exploded. He even joked to the nearby firemen, “Sorry we’re polluting so much!”

Sprinkle reported hearing someone shout “Get out of the car!” and then seeing smoke coming from the Thunderbird a few minutes later.
Sprinkle, after ensuring his safety, reported to WCNC Charlotte, “I took one step out, and flames are just pouring out of the engine.” “Thankfully, there were emergency responders and law enforcement in the area. By clearing the way, they were able to proceed.”
It was confirmed by Belmont Police that a firetruck was on the scene and put out the blaze. Numerous eyewitnesses were able to record the use of fire extinguishers in the effort to put out the engine fire.
Luckily, nobody was hurt during the incident. Sprinkle stated that the parade continued after the car was pushed out of the way by firefighters.
Sprinkle said, “I jumped in with the mayor of Belmont and finished up the parade.”
