Sidney Harman was an engineer and businessman who also served as the U.S. Under Secretary of Commerce in 1977-1978. The Canadian-born American engineer was the publisher of Newsweek after purchasing the magazine for one dollar in 2010. He began the high-fidelity industry with the founding of Harman/Kardon, Inc. in 1952 and is known for the Quality of Working Life programs.
