Eight people, five of which were connected to former Dixie State University basketball player Mason Sawyer, were killed in a sandstorm-caused 22 vehicle pile-up on Interstate-15 in Millard County Sunday.
On Sunday afternoon, Mason’s sibling Race and his son Rider were traveling in the same car as Mason’s wife Kortni and their three children Riggins, Frankie, and Blue.
Only Mason’s son Blue survived the collision and was discharged from the hospital the same day. Five out of the six people in the car died in the accident.
The vehicle did not contain Mason Sawyer.
Keshia Sawyer, Race Sawyer’s wife, and their two other kids, Faith and Ran, are still alive. There is a GoFundMe set up by a childhood friend of Mason to cover both the funeral and medical costs to benefit Mason and his sister-in-law Keisha.
