Rylee Bartlett Dies in An Accident, Bryan is injured, Fulton High School student

Two G. Ray Bodley High School students were involved in an accident on Sunday; one of them died, while the other was gravely hurt, according to the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies reported that the driver, Rylee Bartlett, 17, of Fulton, died in the collision. Brady Niver, 16, of Fulton, a passenger, is in critical condition.

Rylee, a junior, was a member of the school’s varsity ladies lacrosse team in addition to being an honor roll student.

According to a news release from the sheriff’s office on Monday, Rylee was operating a 2010 Dodge Journey traveling north on Route 48 when her vehicle veered into the southbound lane and collided with a 2014 Chrysler Town moving southern.

According to the Granby Police Department, the collision occurred between Wybron and Wilcox roads at around 5:35 p.m.

Deputies said that Rylee was declared deceased at the scene. Brady is in a serious condition at Upstate Medical Center.

Fred Strickland, the Chrysler Town and Country’s driver, and Sharyn Strickland, a passenger, were both taken to Upstate with non-life-threatening wounds, according to authorities.

Superintendent of Fulton City Schools Brian Pulvino informed the public that one youngster had died and another had been hurt in a message sent to the neighborhood hours after the collision. This week at the high school, he added, the district will provide counselors and other forms of support for students and employees.

Pulvino commented on Sunday night that the current situation in our town was horrible. It demonstrates the importance of each and every day. My heart breaks for our students and families.

According to authorities, the accident is still being investigated.
